This project added a complete four-level interchange at this freeway intersection. The old DFW Turnpike connections had been used previously going back to the opening of the turnpike in 1957. This project began in April 2016 and was scheduled to be complete in 2021 but was more than two years behind schedule. All main lanes and connection ramps were open to traffic on December 21, 2023, after 7.5 years of construction. Work on frontage roads and Six Flags Drive continued into 2024.
