Reconstruction and expansion of the SH 183 took place from 2015 to 2018. The corridor was entirely rebuilt and substantially widened. Unfortunately, there are still only three regular lanes in each direction, with 2x2 tolled managed lanes in the middle section of the freeway.
The Irving Interchange at Loop 12 was officially dedicated on May 8, 2024.
